Snow White - Ballet Preljocaj

In ultima vreme am capatat obiceiul de a ma documenta inainte de a merge la un spectacol. Am facut un rezumat din materialele pe care le-am citit pentru spectacolul de diminica. Here it goes:

Ballet Preljocaj

Born in 1957 of Albanian parents who had immigrated to Paris, Angelin Preljocaj began his career by studying classical dance before turning to contemporary dance. Since founding his company, in 1984, he has created 30 choreographic works, 8 of which are currently in the Ballet's repertoire, ranging from duets to larger formations. He was asked to create choreographies for some of the most prestigious dance troops in the world: Ballet de l'Opera in Paris, La Scala in Milan, the New York City Ballet, and the Staatsoper in Berlin amongst others. The Ballet performs about 110 dates per year on tour, in France and abroad.

Last creation of the Ballet Preljocaj, Snow White is a great romantic contemporary ballet, based on the Grimm brothers' version of the fairytale. Angelin Preljocaj works with all 26 dancers of the company on the most beautiful scores of Gustav Mahler's symphonies. The costumes are designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, and the set by Thierry Leproust. The first performance has been played on 25 September 2008 at the Biennale de la danse de Lyon in France. Duration of the performance: 1h50.
